I'm an 18, almost 19, year old college student. I hang out with friends on the weekend and do my school work during the week. When I was younger I swam every summer on a swim team and loved every minute of it. I was an active child, getting sick just like every other kid. I now live in a different city, away from my family, in a bed that's not my own.
I have a cousin named Hayden who is anything but an average kid. She hung out with her friends on the weekends and went to school on the weekdays. She swam every summer as much as she could; she was our little fish. She was an active child, until one day she got sick.. NOT like every other kid. She sleeps in a bed that's not her own but she is always with her family.
In January of 2010 she had a tumor taken out for the second time except this time she was diagnosed with cancer. She started Chemo in early May and wasn't able to hang out with her friends on the weekends or even go to school on the weekdays. She can swim this summer but it will be hard on her considering that the Chemo is taking a toll on her. She will once again be able to do all the things she once did, once her Chemo is done.
Hayden is only 12 years old. She has Down Syndrome and is nothing but "average." She is the most special little girl I know and she is always loved by her family and friends. The cancer that has taken over her life for the time being is also "anything but average." Liposarcoma is nothing but average.
There are many people out there, young and old, that have a type of "sarcoma" cancer. Sarcoma Knows No Boundries. Donations can be made to help the research of sarcoma so something like this doesn't happen to another 12 year old girl that has her life ahead of her.

My family and I came up with the idea of making our own bracelets for Hayden..
"Team Hayden" bracelets are $5 each and all proceeds go towards kids with cancer. We're asking just $1 extra if you need to bracelet shipped to you. Cask, Check, or PayPal are accepted. PayPal payments can be make to kpongoy2@aol.com. Just let me know if you are interested! Thank you!
